Conscious Movement

Life is movement. Movement can be healthy, freeing, empowering. But sometimes it gets stuck, frozen, locked into automatic patterns. By bringing more awareness to how we normally move, and experimenting with curiosity how we might move differently, we can regain more openness, joy, spontaneity, ease and understanding.

In this workshop we use music to facilitate this process, to create a context that can encourage and guide us to explore the full spectrum of our human sensitivity. Awake movement can take the form of a dance, something that emerges of its own accord, independent of any predetermined scheme, steps or choreography. Everybody is naturally capable of it.

In this workshop, we will learn simple but powerful ways to become more sensitive to our bodies and feelings, allowing them to express themselves through movement and in harmony with others around us. We will begin with accessible exercises to develop a sense of safety and embodiment, both within ourselves and in relation to others. We then embark on a musical journey, surfing waves of different atmospheres, rhythms and genres. We use music as a mirror to discover how to move through and enjoy our way of being. We conclude with a moment of greater stillness to integrate these experiences, share them as we wish, and prepare to return to our lives a little more relaxed, a little more connected and happy, a little more aware.
