Speedskating at Balans

Balans is organizing an speedskating course again in cooperation with SPR-KRAS, which is the speedskaters association for RUG and Hanze employees.

This course aims to improve ice-skating technique and familiarize the amateur ice-skater with skating the 400m ice rink of Kardinge sports center. Participants should already be somewhat experienced: you should be able to make a round on the course without holding on to something (or someone). It’s not necessary to be able to do crossovers or to stand on your skates perfectly straight. We’d love to teach you those techniques during the course. 

We will focus on the (primary) ice-skating techniques, so that you will really improve your skating.  Of course, we hope that it inspires you to continue skating weekly at SPR-KRAS!

More information

Participants have to skate on speed skates (Noren). These are available for rent at Kardinge for 6 euros a visit.) Figure or ice-hockey skates are not suitable for this course. Ice-skate or bike helmets are mandatory. If necessary, KRAS can make a helmet available for you.

If you’re interested in a SPR-KRAS membership, you can join at the end of the course at a reduced rate.
